When you walk into a new home, you notice the finishes, the layout, and the light. What you don’t notice, at least, not right away, is the construction behind the walls. But at Partners, what’s behind the walls is one of the biggest reasons our homeowners feel a real difference every day.
Today, we’re taking you inside one of our most important building innovations: the QuietWall™ System.
Designed for Real Life, Not Just Building Code
Every home with a shared wall includes our industry-leading QuietWall™ system, designed to go well beyond standard code requirements. While Alberta’s minimum STC (Sound Transmission Class) requirement for party walls is 50, our QuietWall™ achieves an impressive STC of 57, that’s a noticeable difference in sound transfer.
In everyday life, that means fewer footsteps, fewer TV sounds, fewer conversations heard through the wall— simply a quieter, more peaceful home.

What’s Inside a QuietWall™?
Here’s a quick look at the layers that make this system so effective:
- Staggered Stud Construction
Instead of a shared stud, the wall uses staggered 2” x 4” studs, which dramatically disrupt the path sound waves typically travel. It’s a simple but powerful way to stop noise before it ever reaches the other side. - Quiet Zone Batt Insulation
A 3.5” Quiet Zone insulation batt combined with a 1” air gap helps absorb and dissipate sound energy, keeping everyday household noise where it belongs, inside your own home. - Multiple Layers of Gypsum Board
We use a combination of standard ½” gypsum board and 5/8” Type X gypsum board to both enhance fire protection and significantly reduce sound transfer. These thicker boards add mass, which is one of the most effective ways to stop airborne noise. - Sealed 6 mil Poly Barrier
A carefully lapped and sealed 6 mil poly acoustic barrier helps minimize both sound and air movement between homes. This step is above code and it makes a noticeable difference in air and scent transfer. - Spray Foam at Joists
Spray foam insulation fills out joist cavities to further reduce sound paths while boosting energy efficiency.
Together, these components create a wall assembly that feels solid, private, and incredibly quiet. You may never see it, but you’ll certainly appreciate it.
Why This Matters for Homeowners
We know your home should feel like a retreat, not a shared space. The QuietWall™ system helps create that sense of comfort and privacy by ensuring the noise of daily life stays where it should. Whether you’re working from home, raising a family, or simply enjoying some downtime, a thoughtful approach to soundproofing makes a world of difference.
And that’s why we don’t just meet industry standards, we exceed them.
